Episode 02 - Reunion (First Draft)
December 14, 2005“I have come for you,” the silver-blue haired young man arrogantly announced. At the cave’s opening, he stood there with his arms akimbo and chest puffed out. He was dressed as most Ymerians except he didn’t have the thick cape-cloak used to guard against the cold.
He was addressing the young man who didn’t gaze up to see the intruder. He was a tall man of pale complexion. He had gracefull manner about him but his body was well toned that indicated strength. He had short black hair, glassy blue eyes lined with thick lashes, tall nose and pale lips. He wore a long sleeve shirt and straight pants, all of white silk and embroidered at the hems with what seemed to be silver. He looked like a foreign warrior prince of human decent but his long pointed ears showed otherwise. He had a stud earring on his left ear — the gem, Amethyst, similar to that on the necklace of the Ymerian. (more…)
A change of heart … or a return
August 20, 200510 years ago, my friend and I started this story for an anime. Realizing how difficult it will be, my friend urged me to consider making this a manga. As I try to flesh out the story in text, a part of me longs for the pictures to tell the story.
I made my decision. Heart of Huracan is in my mind graphical. I will flesh it out as manga. Trisha would laugh at me if we were still in contact. I finally give in to her suggestion.
I’m going through scanned manga right now to get the feel of it. I can also look at people and envision them in manga-form. It has been a while since I had this urge. Something in me wakes up. Somehow, I am excited.
In the Gallery, I uploaded a few drawing for Huracan that I drew before. This will be a long process since I am not a spontaneous artist.
Episode 01 - Ice Dragon
August 10, 2005This is a draft. I would like to hear what you think about it, though. I just had to write it and post it before I think it’s no good and delete what I’ve written. (08/10) Changed baby to child. Ginny’s comment made me remember that I need this character to start as a child, not as a baby. I also continued the story.
=====
The northern land of Ymer is a place of mountains covered vastly with snow. Nobody lives there except the Ymerians, although even their existence is somewhat of a myth. For those living outside Ymer, it seemed impossible that people could survive such a harsh environment. Yet they exist and thrive in the heart of a great mountain full of caves.
In the largest cavern, we will find the Ymerians during the deepest of cold and other troubling times. Such was the time now.
Three days ago, as the sun rose beyond the sea, the Ymerians heard a child crying. Fearing that this was evil magic perpetuated by Haldis the scorned, they did not look for the child. After the sun set and darkness creep into Ymer, the fiercest cold winds began to blow. The Ymer elders convened everybody to the great hall and stationed guardians around them and near the gates.
Floke, one of the guardians, muttered under his breath as the howling winds outside seem to shake the very foundation of Ymer. While the icy gusts blew and howled, the ominous cries were not heard. In times when the winds died down, the child would begin crying again. That made it even more ominous.
A hand on Floke’s shoulder startled him. “A mighty tempest, wouldn’t you say?” Ragnard, one of the elders, sat beside him.
“The others are talking, saying this is Haldis’ curse. Others say this is Isdrage’s vengeful return.” (more…)
